Amicus briefs due by February 19, 2020 . December 18, 2019: Recipients of the 2019 Judicial Branch's Performance Council awards were announced by Supreme Court Chief Justice Leigh I. Saufley. December 9, 2019: The Maine Judicial Branch is seeking applications from persons interested in being appointed as a Justice of the Peace for the State of Maine. Justices of the Peace are appointed by the Chief Judge of the Maine District Court and serve at the pleasure of the Chief Judge. Applicants must be currently licensed as a lawyer in Maine and cannot be employed by a prosecutor’s office or law enforcement agency. See the Justice of the Peace announcement for more information.
